by Morgan Phillips (UK Co-Director, The Glacier Trust)
I am into month 10 of being a parent for the first time and our little boy is keeping my wife and I very busy. Finding the time to plan (let alone take) a trip to Nepal feels almost impossible right now. I was therefore delighted to receive a message from one of my Global Action Plan colleagues, Amy Wilson, asking if she could help out for a month or so in Nepal for The Glacier Trust.
I have worked very closely with Amy over last two years and got to know her really well, she is one of the best project managers I have ever worked with. She also has a wealth of experience working on environmental, development, and humanitarian projects for ITAD, HUBBUB, UNICEF and MADE-BY.
Amy arrived in Nepal yesterday and is staying with my Co-Director, Richard Allen, for a few days before she sets off to meet the people benefiting from the climate change adaptation projects TGT and its partner NGOs are enabling in the Himalayan foothills.
Over the next few weeks, Amy will be TGT’s representative in Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchok, Solukhumbu and Khotang as she joins the team from EcoHimal on a two week field trip to current, past, and future project areas.
And, before she heads to the hills she’ll be making a special visit to ‘Nepal Organic Coffee’ to learn more about their work and to give them a chance to sample the coffee infused beer ‘Great Adaptations’ made by our friends at Wiper and True, with coffee beans they roasted!
Amy also has a few more cans of Great Adaptations in her backpack to take to the mountains. She’ll be meeting some of the farmers who grew the coffee and cardamom so that they can taste the final produce their raw material helped create!
We’ll be posting stories, photos, and videos from Amy here and on our social media channels as we get them, so keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram pages for all the latest.
I am so pleased that Amy is in Nepal, she is someone I respect enormously and I can’t wait to hear back from her, she is a great addition to the TGT team. We are going to benefit hugely from her insights and storytelling skills. Enjoy every minute Amy.
